Joyce made a successful start to the pro ranks with a stoppage win over Ian Lewison in London where the towel was thrown in.

32 year old amateur standout from the UK Joe Joyce made his professional debut last night fighting on a card promoted by former heavyweight champion David Haye.

The Hayemaker Ringstar promoted event went out to a large audience on free to air TV in the UK and Ireland via Channel Dave.

The fight was one he dominated from the beginning in truth, battering the tough Ian Lewison before the towel eventually came in the 8th round from trainer Don Charles:

The jab of Joyce proved to be effective early on and by round 4, Lewison had to contend with a significant cut over his eye.

The Olympic silver medallist proceeded to then land painful looking one-two combinations on Lewison as the show began to be closed.

Following the fight, David Haye mentioned that he would like to see Joyce in a British title fight next up – intimating that their intention is to fast track him in his career.

At 32 years of age and after an extensive amateur career this makes sense, as he will have a much more limited window for his pro career than usual.
