Sergey Kovalev To Part Company With His Trainer

Former unbeaten knockout artist Sergey Kovalev to move on from his coach after losing twice to Andre Ward in last two fights.

There has been a lot of controversy recently surrounding Sergey Kovalev and his now former trainer Dave Jackson, where comments were made from Jackson that alleged he was not pleased with his fighter following his loss earlier this year to Andre Ward and said he quit in their most recent fight.

It seemed to be a bad situation all in all, but now it has been reported by journalist Chris Mannix that this working relationship has definitively now come to an end:

Although Kovalev lost his last two fights and the biggest of his career to Andre Ward, both he and Jackson did enjoy a lot of success together before that which saw the ‘Krusher’ rip through the light-heavyweight division at one time.

A series of wins that included a famous win over Bernard Hopkins in particular, a win over former champion Nathan Cleverly and two wins over Jean Paschal.

Kovalev will now prepare without coach Jackson for his next fight on Vyacheslav Shabranskyy on November 25th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Tickets for the fight are scheduled to go on sale next Tuesday, September 19th at 12 noon on Ticketmaster.com.

Here’s a look back at one of Kovalev and Jackson’s most famed wins in the fight against Bernard Hopkins back in 2014:
