Now that Mayweather vs McGregor is out of the way attention has straight away turned to boxing’s next mega event between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez on September 16th.

A world title fight that has a little bit of everything. Exciting styles, power and a clash between two fighters to find out who really is the best middleweight on Earth.

It’s a very, very different fight from Mayweather vs McGregor to be fair.

It represents what boxing is at its best and is a fight that is almost certain to deliver in the ring in terms of a competitive battle at the highest level professional boxing.

Speaking this week on why this particular fight is one that boxing can be proud of Gennady Golovkin said at a media workout:

“This is a fight boxing can be proud of.  It is boxing’s biggest fight. It is a fight for history. It is a real Mexican fight. Everyone will remember this fight. Canelo is No. 1 in Mexico, a country known for great fighters. He is very special.”

The bout is just a little under three weeks away and will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 16th.

It will be the first time Golovkin has fought in Vegas. The IBO, IBF, WBA and WBC world middleweight titles will all be on the line.
