Carl Frampton Issues Statement On Reason For Missing Weight

Carl Frampton Windsor Park TV Schedule

Carl Frampton issues a formal statement to both his fans and his opponent this weekend after failing to make the featherweight limit.

It surprised many.

Particularly considering Carl had only moved up to the weight from super-bantamweight just last year to avoid similar problems.

The fight will still be a WBC title eliminator for his Mexican opponent Andres Gutierrez, however.

The WBC featherweight title is currently held by American Gary Russell Jr.

If Frampton does move up again after this fight it will present the opportunity to become a three-weight world champion.
