A Tyson Fury return to the boxing ring has now been thrown into doubt following a recent interview from the former champion.

Despite speculation recently that a Tyson Fury return could happen this September on the undercard of his cousin Hughie Fury’s world title challenge against Joseph Parker in Manchester – significant doubt still remains.

Fury has an ongoing issue to sort out with UKAD firstly that needs to be resolved, before he could potentially get any license in Britain to box professionally again.

In recent months Tyson has returned to some training however which has been encouraging.

However, speaking to Steve Lillis of BoxNation he mentioned that it is still very much up in the air whether a comeback is on the cards or not:

“No comment. I’ve not been involved in the sport for nearly two years so I don’t think it’s fair to dampen the lads’ time to shine. It’s their time in the sun. My time was two years ago. If I come back there will be an announcement. If not goodbye.”

He added:

“Listen, I have not boxed in over 18 months so it’s been a while. Who knows? You never know. I’m still only 28 so I’ve got a bit of time if I want to comeback. For this game you’ve got to really love it though and want it and you’ve got to be very hungry. Without that you’re not going to succeed, and I don’t want to make boxing about money – because it’s never been about money for me.”

Concerning words no doubt for his fans but from a bigger picture perspective, what a loss for the heavyweight division.

For a man so young that has achieved so much in the sport to call it a day.

But at the end of the day it’s his decision.

A Tyson Fury return if it did happen though could open the gates for some huge fights in the division over the coming twelve months.

Namely a showdown with Anthony Joshua. Just imagine how big a fight that would be. My word.
