Vegas Is Now Front Runner For Joshua vs Klitschko 2

Joshua vs Klitschko 2 is set to take place later in 2017 but the venue has been the main sticking point. No longer it would seem.

The rematch is a contractual option for the beaten Klitschko who has every right to exercise the clause, but it is understood that it needs to be something special and different to motivate him.

Joshua vs Klitschko 2 is a huge fight, no doubt about it. Possibly an even bigger fight than one given the exciting nature of their first battle.

It was thought Nigeria was the main front runner a few weeks ago for the rematch but now the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas, has come on very strong.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn noted:

“Vegas, it is the mecca of boxing and this is an opportunity. Does he have the motivation? I think Vegas will get his (Klitschko’s) blood boiling again.”

Big fight venues in Vegas include the MGM, T-Mobile Arena and Mandalay Bay to name but a few – who no doubt will all be vying for this one.

It might also be a move from Joshua’s handlers to promoter their man more in the US after he drew solid numbers in the afternoon and delayed topic broadcast there for the Klitschko fight back in April.

If they want to make Anthony Joshua truly into a global boxing superstar America would be a logical step on the journey, one would have thought.
