Anthony Fowler Wins Second Pro Fight With Crippling Body Shots

Anthony Fowler Return and Next Opponent

The second professional fight of Anthony Fowler proved an impressive one for the Liverpool man tonight in Newcastle.

Liverpool super-welterweight Anthony Fowler moved to 2-0 (2KO) with a stoppage win over Georgian Nikoloz Gvajava.

Early on Gvajava proved a tough test but the body shots were to prove to be too much for him as the bout progressed, getting dropped twice in round three.

After a discussion with his corner about whether or not he would come out for the fourth round, he boxed on, but it wasn’t to last long.

The body shots again proved pivotal and finished the fight in round 4.

Following the fight Anthony Fowler paid tribute to the toughness of his opponent and also addressed a previous concern about discipline regarding a fight where he had hit a downed opponent.

He cleared up the matter as an error and assured the public that the boxer in question who he fought in the amateurs was okay afterwards.

Fowler looks to be an exciting puncher, a character and has a willingness to come forward and be involved in a proper fight. That combination seems like it will create some fireworks in the coming years most likely.

Fowler and his coach Dave Coldwell were humble about how much work needs to be done afterwards though in the coming months and year ahead, and that Anthony Fowler is by no means the finished article just yet.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said afterwards that Anthony Fowler reminded him of Carl Froch. High praise indeed for the Liverpool man.
