Miguel Cotto Next Fight, Date and Venue Announced

Miguel Cotto Defeat

Miguel Cotto next fight opponent, location and date have been confirmed this morning as the Puerto Rican boxing great gets ready to return.

The fighting pride of Puerto Rico has had some issues in recent times outside the ring in terms of fights falling through and promoters, but alas, he’s now got a fight date once again to work towards.

Boxing writer Steve Kim broke the following news this morning:

It will mark the first fight for Cotto (40-5-33KO) since his loss to Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision all the way back in November 2015 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Since then, Cotto has been training and waiting patiently – with some well documented issues with promoters along the way.

At age 36 he knows the big fights are needed now as he comes to the finishing stretch of a magnificent career and will no doubt be looking to get back to winning ways in style come August 26th.

Prior to losing to Canelo in 2015, Cotto had put together a three fight win streak at middleweight but some did mention that 160lbs was perhaps a step too far in weight jump for him.

Fighting back at super-welterweight should suit him down to the ground next up.
