The Left Hook That Halted Tommy Langford’s WBO Title Dream

This left hook landed on Englishman Tommy Langford is as clean as any you’ll see. A brutal, wide open, sweeping shot that closed the show.

The left hook when delivered correctly is arguably one of the most devastating punches in the sport of boxing.

Last night in a WBO interim middleweight title fight between the UK’s Tommy Langford and Georgia’s Avtandil Khurtsidze – it was on full display.

It came in round 5 following a dominant period for Khurtsidze and was captured perfectly in this GIF by the folks at Streetfight Bacnho Twitter (hat tip):

What a shot.

After the fight Khurtzidze’s next opponent, WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders almost tried to attack him here at the post-fight press conference.

The above left hook will no doubt be something Saunders will be wary of come fight night this summer when the two men step in the ring.

The defeat dropped previously unbeaten Langford’s record back to 18-1-6KO. Following the fight he had this message of thanks to his supporters:

No doubt the likeable Englishman will come back stronger in his next fight.

As for the winner last night, early bookmakers are placing Billy Joe Saunders as a warm favorite against Langford’s conqueror.
