Lomachenko Rematch Opponent Likely Next Up

A Lomachenko rematch with one of his early professional boxing career rivals looks most likely for the world champion’s next fight in 2017.

Vasyl Lomachenko last fought earlier this month when he stopped Jason Sosa inside the distance here in Maryland, USA.

Plaudits have been coming left, right and centre since. Rightly so in my opinion. His technical boxing ability has to be up there as one of the very best in the sport.

He finishes fights in exciting fashion too – or at least tries too. He has moved into top spot for the time being in our pound for pound top 10 list.

Speculation has immediately turned to who it could be next for ‘Hi-Tech’ and Lance Pugmire of the LA Times reported the following:

Salido is the only man to beat Lomachenko in his pro career so far. A split decision win back in 2014 in only Lomachenko’s second pro fight.

It appears Lomachenko is hell bent on putting that defeat behind him with the current momentum he is riding in the sport.

Salido is due to box next month himself against an opponent to be confirmed for May 27th in Mexico. Should he come through it, it looks like one hell of a test awaits him in the form of a Lomachenko rematch.
