Julius Indongo Backed Up His Talk Against Ricky Burns

Julius Indongo Backed

Julius Indongo backed up his verbal warfare in the ring as he travelled away from home to three-weight world champion Ricky Burns.

Coming into the contest Indongo had been vocal about what he thought of Burns and his accomplishments. Coming off perhaps a bit brash to some.

Particularly after this throat slash gesture at the final weigh-in.

But he proved to be able to back up his talk with action in the ring. A terrific technician on display in Glasgow last night.

Indongo was able to take the fight to Burns early on, pushing him on the back foot.

He got off to a very strong start as Burns began sluggishly. Costing him the opening four rounds through a lack of work rate and urgency.

Burns came back a bit in the 5th and 6th rounds and started getting the right hand going.

Indongo like the great champion he though, rallied back down the stretch. He landed the cleaner blows and used his height and reach to frustrate Burns who could not work his way on the inside.

Perhaps Indongo was better than Burns and his team thought on the night, as the Namibian won the light-welterweight unification match in convincing fashion.
