Why Lomachenko Thinks He’s Not Pound For Pound Best Yet

Why Vasyl Lomachenko thinks he isn’t the best boxer in the world pound for pound just yet. Despite some now placing him at the top of the heap.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him considered by most to be the best if he keeps going the way he’s going though, to be fair.

Recently Lomachenko was put as pound for pound number one boxer by some publications following Roman Gonzalez’s defeat (here’s where he sits on our own list at the moment) which prompted some debate online.

Pound for pound debates always do though, mind you.

Speaking to Fino Boxing this week the humble Lomachenko thinks he’s not quite best pound for pound yet because:

“I don’t want to be pound for pound number one because somebody (Roman Gonzalez losing recently) falls down. I want to be pound for pound fighter and to claim myself into that position. But just because somebody falls down (Gonzalez) and I’m going to be climbing up for the number one. I don’t want to do that.”

Humility certainly is a trait that comes off this guy every time you hear him talk.

But it’s his deadly boxing skills and ability in the ring that have everyone in the boxing world talking about him at the moment.

He returns to action on April 8th against Jason Sosa where he puts his WBO super-featherweight world title on the line in Maryland.
