Excellent Short Feature On Mayweather Fighter Davis vs Warren Fighter Walsh

Gervonta Davis Had A Chilling Reaction To Tevin Farmer's Win In Boston

Mayweather fighter Davis takes on Frank Warren boxer Walsh in an intriguing clash of fighters and promotional companies from across the pond.

Boxing’s youngest current world champion (22) Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis travels to the UK on May 20th alongside his promoter and mentor Floyd Mayweather to defend his IBF super-featherweight world title against the undefeated Liam Walsh (21-0-14KO).

Davis (17-0-16KO) is a big hitter who won the title back in January in New York via stoppage in a highly entertaining battle in Brooklyn with respected Puerto Rican Jose Pedraza.

The thing that really strikes me about the fight besides the quality of the match up itself and both fighter’s renowned promoters Floyd Mayweather and Frank Warren, is what it represents.

In some ways the fight to me signals the new boxing world we now live in.

One which the UK has come to dominate force in, within recent years, and continues to stage more and more world title fights and big events than anywhere else.

Not long ago it seemed like the USA was the world capital of boxing.

But a tangible shift has most definitely occurred in both economic resources to stage big fights, and the number of world champions from the UK in terms’ of the country’s strategic holding within the sport currently.

But anything can change in this nutty business. As well all know.

Ahead of the fight the folks at BoxNation YouTube (hat tip) have brought out an excellent short feature on Mayweather fighter Davis and challenger Liam Walsh.

It charts the behind the scenes goings on recently when Mayweather and co were in town to promote the fight in the UK, as well as other bits and pieces about the two fighters:

Davis is starting as a slight favorite at the moment but knows he is in for one hell of a fight with Walsh as he gets ready to travel to the new (for now at least) super power in world boxing – the UK.
