Promoter Of Golovkin Names Possible Venues For Canelo vs GGG

Promoter of Golovkin names some possible venues to stage the eagerly anticipated GGG vs Canelo fight which is being hoped to be signed for this September.

Both teams are currently locked in negotiations with Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy mentioning earlier this week that he thinks since Golovkin beating Danny Jacobs last weekend, that the chances of Canelo vs Golovkin have actually gone down.

Apparently he was waiting to see what the results of the pay per view were last weekend.

With the final tally now in at 170,000 pay per view buys, more than likely he’ll look to negotiate a better deal for his man Canelo who is the perceived ‘A-Side’.

Politics and negotiations aside, Tom Loeffler who is the promoter of Golovkin names a few possible venues and locations for the fight this weekend when speaking to TMZ Sports:

“That’s one of the things that we agreed that Golden Boy can pick the location. Gennady doesn’t really care where he fights. He’s got a huge fan base here in New York. Obviously Madison Square Garden would like to have that fight. Jerry Jones definitely is interested in hosting that fight at Cowboys stadium. The Vegas casinos, the MGM and T-Mobile are very interested in hosting the event. I think that fight can go anywhere. Wherever it lands it will be a terrific match up. Whatever stadium it goes, even Cowboys stadium, I think it will be completely sold out. That will be the biggest boxing event so far if it does end up in Dallas.”

Both Canelo and Golovkin have proven they can sell tickets on the gate but a Dallas stadium showdown in particular would be really mouth watering.

A fight of this magnitude surely befitting of such an arena. The Mexican fans no doubt would turn out in their droves once again for Canelo in Texas.

Time will tell of both parties come to an agreement, but one would imagine there is simply too much interest in it not to happen at this stage.
