Katie Taylor Opponent Selected Ahead of Crolla vs Linares Show

Ireland’s Golden girl Katie Taylor opponent for this weekend has been confirmed for her latest professional fight.

Taylor, who only boxed a few weeks back in her third pro fight, will take on a former world title challenger in only her fourth pro fight in the form of Milena Koleva from Bulgaria.

This weekend will see her as part of the Jorge Linares vs Anthony Crolla world title show in Manchester.

If she is successful, she is then next being planned to appear on the gargantuan Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko 90,000 bonanza at Wembley at the end of April.

Taylor’s last outing at the start of March saw her record her second stoppage as a professional to progress her record to 3-0 (2KO).

The Irish fighter was due to fight this weekend’s opponent Milena Koleva on the recent David Haye vs Tony Bellew undercard recently, but Koleva had to pull out at the last minute.

Now it’s on though this weekend and many boxing fans and casual sports fans will be interested to see how Taylor gets on in her latest outing – with a hope by her handlers and team at least that she can be the next big thing in women’s boxing.

Female pro boxing has traditionally being a tough sell, but with a seemingly renewed appetite from TV companies to show female sports in general, coupled with the exciting nature of Taylor, she could very well ‘make things happen’ in women’s boxing.

Her last victory certainly suggested so.

A truly ruthless finish with buckets of hand speed, combinations and accuracy on show in a really professional-style performance:
