The GGG vs Canelo fight is the one that could be the biggest fight of the year in the US if it can be made. But will we see it though?

Gennady Golovkin was shown to be more human than ever this past weekend when the courageous Danny Jacobs pushed him to the limit in a twelve round battle in New York.

Golovkin came out with a unanimous decision in a close fight and afterwards the middleweight head honcho spoke of his desire to unify the middleweight division.

To do so, next up, a matchup with WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders from the UK is what Golovkin intimated that he wants next.

But where does that leave a GGG vs Canelo fight in 2017?

Perhaps he could fight Saunders in the summer and then Canelo as planned in September, but who’s to say he will beat Saunders for definite.

Granted, he’ll go into the fight as a favorite but one would think Saunders like a lot of other middleweights out there now – will be less intimidated by Golovkin after the Jacobs fight.

This, in itself, should make a GGG vs Canelo fight easier to make. In theory. Jacobs has shown in spots how to beat Golovkin during his successful periods in the fight.

Perhaps this will bring Canelo and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya to the table with more urgency in negotiations, with the same going for team ‘GGG’?

What year it would be for him if in fact he did get three fights in against Daniel Jacobs, Billy Joe Saunders and Canelo Alvarez.
