There’s Another Travelling Irishman Fighting This Paddy’s Day Weekend

Many will be aware of the boxing in New York this St.Patrick’s Day weekend at Madison Square Garden. But don’t forget the other Irishman fighting this Paddy’s Day weekend.

Another Entertaining Irishman Fighting This Patrick’s Day Weekend

As a publication Boxing News and Views started out in Ireland back in 2015. Consequently, as you can imagine, the Patrick’s Day weekend in the sport of boxing is always a fond one for us.

Many of our international readers not from Ireland (which is the vast majority of you great folks nowadays) will remember an Irish fighter by the name of Spike O’Sullivan from his fight with Chris Eubank Jr in 2015.

Plus his colorful press conference antics and his humorous tweets and videos to boot.

But the Cork man is on his travels this weekend on a mission. He takes on Ronald Montes at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Indeed, Massachusetts has proven to be a happy hunting ground for Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan (23-2-15KO). He’s recorded five victories there since turning pro back 2008.

Since losing to Eubank in December of 2015 O’Sullivan bounced back with a win in the US last year.

Having had the chance to meet and interview Spike on a number of occasions in the past, I have no doubt he’s chomping at the bit this weekend.

Ready to let those hard hitting fists fly. Trained by Paschal Collins, expect to see the heavy handed O’Sullivan in explosive form come Saturday night.

Columbia native and O’Sullivan opponent on Saturday Ronlad Montes has been stopped four times in his professional career to date with a record of (17-5-15KO).

He’s a big hitter himself so fans could be in for a real treat in this one.

For those not familiar with O’Sullivan’s pugilistic exploits – just take one look at this bone shuddering knockout:
