Paddy Barnes Classy Performance In 2nd Pro Fight – Boxing Results From Belfast

Paddy Barnes had his second professional boxing contest tonight in front of his hometown fans at The Waterfront in Belfast. The colorful Irishman looked sharp tonight.

Following on from this pro debut win Barnes took on Argentinian Adrian Dimas Garzon tonight in Belfast’s Waterfront.

Barnes started out cautiously against his heavily tattooed opponent in their scheduled 6 round bout.

‘The Leprechaun’ as Barnes is now known in the ring, as regards his nickname, grew into the fight a bit more in round 2.

Using a solid left jab Barnes began to use the left hook to the body and head with more steady pressure, behind a tight card. Garzon showed solid defence however – not giving Barnes much room to land.

Round 3 was a more lively one. But another one for the Irishman. Higher punch output, blistering hand speed and a rock solid guard from Paddy Barnes.

Barnes upped the ante in the fourth. He varied his shots between the head and body very well, forcing a smile from the teak tough Garzon on more than one occasion.

A tell tale sign that the shots were starting to hurt.

Barnes continued to box behind a stiff jab in the 5th, coasting and moving through the gears but looked to feel the pace a little bit towards the end.

The Irishman moved in and out of range very well in the 6th and final round, never giving his opponent a chance to land something significant. Classy work from Barnes who showed skill, fast hands and a decent engine overall.

Barnes was awarded the fight 60-54 (every round) and the win improved Barnes’ record to 2-0.
