Liverpool man Tony Bellew is still coming to terms with one of the biggest victories of his career following defeating heavy favorite David Haye last weekend.

It has to be the biggest upset in boxing of the year so far, and possibly in quite some time certainly in modern British Boxing.

I didn’t come across many in the build-up who gave him a chance to win the bout (myself included). Credit to him for proving all the doubters wrong.

Critics have come out since saying he only beat a man on one leg, which might have some partial truth to it in terms of how the fight ended and from how it transpired  from round 6 on, it’s also a little unfair to Bellew I believe.

In the early rounds Bellew showed he could take the punches of one of the hardest hitters in world boxing as well as showing that he was not totally out of Haye’s class – as he stayed out of the way from a lot of his attacks.

Talks of a potential showdown with Haye again as well as fights with the likes of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and WBO belt holder Joseph Parker have been mooted next for Bellew.
