Russian heavyweight boxer Alexander Povetkin banned for indefinite period of time by the World Boxing Council and also issued a heavy fine.
The Russian heavyweight boxer was due to compete against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder last year but the fight did not go ahead in the end.
Sky Sports have reported today that as well as being banned indefinitely by the WBC for doping violations, Povetkin has also been handed a $250,000 fine.
Povetkin was also due to compete against Bermane Stiverne in late 2016 but was also unable to do so.
Whether or not we ever see Povetkin back in a boxing ring after this ruling from the WBC, remains to be seen.
Alexander Povetkin is now 37 years of age and has a professional boxing record of 31-1 (23KO).
His last appearance in the boxing ring as a professional fighter came in December of 2016 when he knocked out Johann Duhaupas in Russia.
Povetkin at one point in time was the WBA heavyweight champion of the world.
Over the years he has shared the ring with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Marco Huck, Ruslan Chagaev and Carlos Takam among others.
