Report: GGG vs Canelo Deal Is Close

A potential GGG vs Canelo deal to seal one of the biggest fights of 2017 has been reported to be nearly over the line.

It’s a fight that the boxing public have wanted for sometime.

It’s an event that has the ability to be the biggest pay per view boxing event in the United States perhaps since Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

GGG vs Canelo Deal

Steve Kim of Boxing Scene has reported that Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions who is representing Canelo Alvarez in the negotiations, believes a deal for the fight to take place later this year is close.

Canelo must first come through the considerable 164lbs catchweight task of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr this May however.

Some had speculated recently that if that particular fight was a classic, that a potential immediate rematch could harm the chances of Canelo vs Golovkin later this year.

That doesn’t seem to be the case however now, as both parties involved in the negotiations appear to be hammering out final details of the deal.

Golovkin for his part also has a big fight next up to get out of the way too.

One Danny ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs will be looking to reign on any potential Canelo vs GGG deal parade this March 18th, when he faces the latter at Madison Square Garden in New York.
