Adam Booth on David Haye vs Tony Bellew Fight

Few know David Haye better than his former trainer, mentor and long time friend Adam Booth.

A man known for his deep convictions and study of the sweet science.

He was by Haye’s side for much of his in-ring glory and is widely credited as the man that made ‘The Hayemaker.”

Fast forward a few years and the two no longer have a working relationship – but Booth still keeps an eye on Haye’s career and how he’s doing in boxing.

Ahead of Haye’s latest fight this week on Sky pay per view against Liverpool’s Tony Bellew, Booth offered his perspective on the fight.

Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Booth said:

“Haye (to win). If Bellew is to win he’s got to make him work, adapt to the heavy handedness and drag him into a brawling fight after 4 or 5 or 6 rounds, because Haye hasn’t been attacked in a fight since Dereck Chisora. And that’s quite a while ago. And no one knows, not even he he’ll know how he’ll adapt if some can take what he gives and keeps coming back at him. But I have to go wit David.”

Indeed most pundits, industry insiders and bookmakers alike seem to agree with Booth, with Haye the warm favorite ahead of Saturday night’s opening bell in London.

A press conference today in Liverpool between the two boxers is expected to be a lively one, as we get ready for the final few days ahead of fight night.

They will then have to negotiate one more final mid-week press conference and a weigh-in before they get in the ring to throw down at the weekend.

Can they keep their fists to themselves until then? We’ll have to wait and see.
