Jarrett Hurd vs Tony Harrison – Boxing Results

Jarrett Hurd vs Tony Harrison took place tonight in Alabama for the vacant IBF super-welterweight title, recently vacated by Jermall Charlo who opted to move up to middleweight.

It was an interesting fight for the most part. Lets take a look at how Jarrett Hurd vs Tony Harrison played out in our round by round report card.

In a tentative opening round Hurd showed some solid defence. Not a lot of action.

Harrison starting using the jab well in the second, snapping the head back of Hurd at times.

Harrison looked very sharp in the second overall, landing some excellent straight right hands on Hurd.

Harrison built on his solid round 2, adding more body work in the third.

He won the third comfortably although got caught with a counter at the end – when he looked to step on the gas on Hurd.

Hurd responded in round 4, backing Harrison up and pushing the pace.

Jarrett Hurd continued the pressure early in the fifth, but Harrison’s defence and counter punching was on point for the most part.

Right until the end of the round that is, when Harrison got clipped right at the bell with the biggest punch of the fight from Hurd.

Harrison slipped back into his groove in round six though.

His relaxed demeanor seemingly unflappable as he utilized simple but highly effective straight one-two combinations.

The 7th round was electric.

It appeared as though Harrison was really getting to Hurd only for Hurd to turn it around and buzz Harrison heavily, with Harrison returning fire before the end of the round.

Hurd hurt Harrison again in round 8 with a right hand, but Harrison wanted to come back and trade with him. Gesturing as much.

A real slug fest to the end of the round.

The most significant punch of the night landed in round 9 when Jarrett Hurd landed a massive overhand right hand to stop Harrison and realize his dream of becoming world champion.

Harrison did not want to continue after he spat out his mouth piece.
