The long standing legal battle looks set to have come to a sharp end in favor of Al Haymon.
For the past while in US boxing, boxing manager Al Haymon who is also the head man at new TV series ‘Premier Boxing Champions’ has had to contend with a number of legal battles from his closest rivals.
Powerhouse American promoters Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, namely.
In recent months however Top Rank and Haymon apparently settled their differences out of court and are now back working together.
At least on a limited basis.
But Golden Boy Promotions were looking to take their case to trial against Haymon in the coming months.
This Golden Boy Promotions lawsuit against Haymon now appears to have come to an end though.
Respected journalist Lance Pugmire of the LA Times has reported that a federal judge has dismissed the claims from Golden Boy that boxing manager Al Haymon was engaging in ‘monopolistic’ practices.
The suit which was originally filed in 2015, was looking for over $300 million from Haymon.
The news marks a particularly bad week for Golden Boy Promotions.
Their founder Oscar De La Hoya was reportedly arrested for a DUI offence as per TMZ YouTube (hat tip and credit):
De La Hoya has struggled with substance issues in the past and lets hope he can get the help he needs during this difficult time.
