Andre Ward Responds To Floyd Mayweather’s Criticism of Him

This week Floyd Mayweather has been doing various press conferences and interviews in the run up to Saturday night’s showdown for one of his fighters that he promotes, Badou Jack, when he takes on Britain’s James DeGale in a super-middleweight world title unification at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In one interview with ESPN the topic of Andre Ward came up in regards to what he thought about his controversial win over Sergey Kovalev in 2016.

Mayweather said he did not believe Ward won the fight and had critical words over Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter.

Mayweather also elsewhere this week has pushed the agenda of a possible fight for Ward with his charge Badou Jack, should Jack beat DeGale this weekend, and has also said that Ward should rematch Kovalev at some point this year.

The Ward-Kovalev decision caused a huge amount of controversy in November 2016.

There has been some speculation since the turn of 2017 that Ward is currently considering retiring from the sport of boxing, but nothing has been officially confirmed from him yet on these rumours.
