The countdown to Gennady Golovkin vs Danny Jacobs on March 18th is well and truly underway. The official press conference to announce the fight is expected later on today.

First however, the two men met for the first time in a public get together at a basketball game at Madison Square Garden in New York to let local sports fans and the world know about the fight.

The fight will see four belts on the line – WBA Super, WBC, IBF and IBO and is expected to be the toughest test for Golovkin thus far, with many considering Jacobs the number two middleweight in the world at the moment.
The fight is also expected to be a precursor for the big one that everyone is waiting for later this year then – a mega showdown with Canelo Alvarez for Golovkin should he come through the tough test that is the ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs first up.
Stylistically it should be a great fight in the meantime before the Canelo showdown, with Jacobs carrying considerable knockout power himself and Golovkin of course being considered the hardest hitting fighter pound for pound on Earth at present.
Expect some big bombs in this one. Genuine carnage.
