Conor McGregor boxing licensed issued in the State of California in the USA prompting speculation once again that the UFC fighting star from Ireland could be getting ready for a Floyd Mayweather boxing match in 2017.
A Conor McGregor boxing licensed has now officially been granted amid recent reports that one of the UFC belts belonging to the Irishman’s was stripped from him by the organization, due to their policy of not allowing a fighter actively defend two belts in two separate divisions at the same time.
Now however the Dubliner looks like he is taking his destiny into his own hands and is going down the boxing route as a Conor McGregor boxing licensed got granted as per respected MMA journalist Ariel Helwani:

Interesting news for boxing fans given the massive star appeal of McGregor due to his larger than life personality and almost unrivalled ability to talk on camera.
McGregor uses boxing as his main weapon in the UFC, with most of his fights ending in wins for him by way of KO/TKO via his boxing.
But stepping into a professional boxing ring with a top tier prizefighter would be a whole different game.
One would suspect that McGregor knows this of course, and to his credit he has been seen sparring with professional boxers during 2016.
Perhaps this has been a long-term aim of McGregor all along, in terms of getting into the boxing game.
Presumably for McGregor to compete in pro boxing he would only be able to do so with the UFC’S blessing given he is currently under contract with the organization.
But how many fights are left on that contract remain to be seem.
From a timing perspective though McGregor is the biggest name in combat sports for 2016. If he were to step into a pro boxing ring in 2017 there is no denying he would bring extra attention to the sport of boxing.
