A rare insight into some of the Vasyl Lomachenko tricks used in the sweet science as described by the man himself.

The Vasyl Lomachenko tricks in the ring are renowned within the sport of boxing at this point. He demonstrated these yet again in his latest win over Jamaican Nicholas Walters and solidified just why he has the nickname ‘Hi-Tech’.

The level of in-ring intelligence and awareness he possesses is something to behold.

He’s also relentless in his training regime to perfect his fight displays to boot – as evidenced here by his very modern approach to boxing training.

There are many Vasyl Lomachenko tricks he has in his tool belt that opponents are often bamboozled with.

But one of the more interesting and unique moves to him is a type of parry punch maneuver. One that he seems to have an almost uncanny ability to execute with ease.

Essentially he can paw away an opponent’s glove who is covering up to defend himself to then almost simultaneously follow up with an offensive punch of his own.

The man himself explains it here in this excellent short HBO YouTube video (hat tip and credit):

One of the Vasyl Lomachenko tricks explained

Quite the level of skill there. To put it modestly.

Nicholas Walters found out all too well about this from Lomachenko and in case you missed the fight check out the video highlights of a masterful boxing performance here.

It will be interesting to see what is next for Lomachenko.

Talks already of possible fights in 2017 with the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Terence Crawford and even all be it a long-shot fight, Guillermo Rigondeaux.

The super-featherweight world champion is in a weight class currently where he might need to move up from or even back down a weight from if he wants to get some big names.

Big fights at featherweight for example could also include the likes of Oscar Valdez, Carl Frampton, Leo Santa Cruz, Abner Mares or even Lee Selby.

‘Hi-Tech’ certainly won’t be short of options for 2017, with opinion in the boxing world suggesting that he will box very regularly in the new year.
