Julio Cesar Chavez has never been a man to mince his words and is not about to start now at the age of 54 it seems.

The Mexican boxing legend is in town this week in Las Vegas ahead of the big Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward fight and has been speaking to the media all week on all things boxing.

When asked a question in an open media scrum in Vegas pertaining to Floyd Mayweather, the Hall of Fame boxer didn’t hold back on how he thought a fight between him and Mayweather would have went:

“At 140lbs (super-lightweight), there, I would have f***** Floyd (Mayweather) up.”

What a fight it would have been though.

Mayweather, a defensive counter punching genius against the relentless come forward style of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr would have most likely resulted in the classic hunter vs prey type scenario.

Of course we will never know how it would have panned out, but it’s always interesting and fun to think about how fighters from different eras would have fared against one another.

It’s just what boxing fans tend to do.

Mayweather has been in the news a lot lately with different fighters been linked to him but he is now holding firm once again on being in a state of retirement.

Time will tell.

He seems to be enjoying life away from the ring at the moment (below) so you couldn’t blame him if he wanted to stay retired after nearly 20 years of service as a professional to the sport of boxing:
