Floyd Mayweather and Donald Trump Meet In New York

Former pound for pound number one boxer turned boxing promoter Floyd Mayweather and Donald Trump meet one another in NYC.

Mayweather has been on boxing promotional duties this week in the Big Apple ahead of his charge Badou Jack taking on UK super-middleweight world champion James DeGale at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on January 14th in the new year.

The ‘Money’ man has been in the news quite a bit this week for various reasons stemming from boxing to a potential pay per view bonanza with UFC star Conor McGregor.

He’s also taken some time out of his travelling and promotional work to meet the newly elected President of the United States Donald Trump.

Mayweather has been known to mingle with Presidents in the past having previously been reported to be on friendly terms with former US President Obama.

I recall a couple of years back that Floyd said if he were to fight Manny Pacquiao that he would have Obama walk him to the ring holding one of his belts.

While that prediction didn’t happen, it’s clear to see that Mayweather has many ambitions and interests outside of just the sport of boxing given his pictures with presidents and many businesses outside of the sport.

From a boxing context, despite Mayweather saying he is retired and had a great run in the sport pretty much all year in 2016, I just can’t see him retired totally.

Whether he comes back for one more boxing match against Manny Pacquiao or does the McGregor fight, one would suspect there is too much demand and money on the table for either to be turned down if given the choice.

Time will tell.
