Froch On Golovkin – ‘The Cobra’ Casts Doubt Over GGG’s Credibility

Share

This Froch On Golovkin remark really seems to have flown under the radar online in recent days. It came amid speculation that talks are ongoing once again for a potential fight to get the Englishman out of retirement and potentially in the ring with ‘GGG’ in 2017.

Originally many had thought that the whole Froch Golovkin saga was not something seriously been discussed until Golovkin’s promoter said otherwise here.

Carl Froch is a man known to like to speak his mind and has certainly done so on the topic of Golovkin whenever he has come up over the years.

After Golovkin’s last fight against fellow Froch countryman Kell Brook last September, ‘The Cobra’ noted what he would have done here if it were him instead of Brook.

He’s re-opened his trash talk towards Golovkin once again in recent days with a comment that not a whole lot of people seem to have picked up on.

Speaking directly to GGG and tagging others on Twitter via his verified Twitter profile, Froch on Golovkin said:

Fighting words indeed. Could Froch be getting itchy knuckles?

Many think not, but if a summer stadium fight was proposed at Froch’s natural weight of super-middleweight, you’d have to think he’d at least consider such an event considering the obvious rewards that it would bring him as the guy with the leverage in negotiation.

Froch last competed when he famously knocked out Londoner George Groves in front of a post-World War II record attendance for a boxing match (80,000) in Wembley Stadium a couple of years back.

Golovkin is set to take on middleweight Danny Jacobs next up and has been heavily linked with a long awaited showdown with Canelo Alvarez should he come through Jacobs.

His promoter told us here that his man will fight three times in 2017 though. So options including Froch are plentiful for the middleweight kingpin.
