Fighting sensation Conor McGregor speaks bullishly on what he wants next following his win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
The Irishman became a two-weight world champion with a second round TKO victory over Alvarez (fight report).
McGregor’s boxing skills were far superior to his American counterparts. he dropped Alvarez three times with the left hand in the very first round before closing the show in the second round with his fists.
After the fight McGregor addressed the world’s media in the post-fight press conference and had a clear message to the UFC.
McGregor speaks on what he wants next:
“No one has came and talked to me since the sale has happened. As a businessman I’ve been approached as hello and that type of stuff. But I’ve earned. I mean, who owns the company now? There’s people have shares in the company, celebrities – Conan O’Brien owns the UFC nowadays. Where’s my share? Where’s my equity? If I’m the one that’s bringing this. They’ve got to come talk to me now that’s all I know. I’ve got both belts. Show up with the money. A little family on the way. You want me to stick around and keep doing what I’m doing lets talk but I want ownership now. I want equal share. I want what I deserve and what I’ve earned.”
This demand to the UFC will be interesting to see how it is met by the organization and it’s president Dana White.
It could give more legs to a potential McGregor vs Mayweather boxing match happening in 2017 if the Irishman doesn’t get what he wants and feels he needs to go into boxing or elsewhere.
A showdown between the two would likely need the UFC’s blessing however with McGregor under contract.
But there is no denying that the Irish fight star knows his worth and will be in the leveraging position to negotiate more than anyone.
