Very sad news has emerged in the world of boxing after a young boxer dies after competing in a bout in Russia.

The Associated Press have reported that 15 year old amateur boxer Anton Sidorov has tragically passed away following a boxing match that took place in a town outside Moscow last weekend.

According to the AP, the boy suffered multiple knockdowns in the bout following repeated punches. It is understood that the fight was the third match of the tournament for the boy.

When the referee stopped the fight it was reported that Sidorov suffered convulsions and despite the best efforts to treat him ringside, he sadly passed away in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

It is understood that the event is now being investigated by authorities.

This tragic event comes as very sad news to the sport of boxing which not long ago also lost Scottish boxer Mike Towell following a bout in Glasgow that saw him suffer a bleed on the brain and pass away as a result of his injuries.

A stark reminder of the dangers in the sport.
