Jamie Conlan Goes 18-0 With Win In Belfast

Jamie Conlan continued his ascent up the world rankings tonight in Belfast after coming through a tricky opponent in comfortable fashion.

Belfast super-flyweight Jamie Conlan (brother of Michael Conlan) faced off against Hungarian David Koos tonight in his hometown of Belfast.

Conlan started well with a sharp jab and landed some decent right hands in the first round. He then took the second by boxing patiently and picking his shots with a steady pace – as did in the third round I thought.

The fourth round was a fairly uneventful one for the most part. I gave Conlan the round based on ring control, pressing of the action and landing of some solid body shots at times.

Conlan dug in deeper in the 5th and landed a really excellent body shot on Koos, who managed to take it well.

Round 6 was a more tame affair compared to the 5th, but nonetheless, another Conlan round for scoring blows landed – while also displaying a decent defence overall from shots coming back his way.

Conlan did well again in the 7th round against a slippery operator in Koos – who proved to be a hard man to nail down to his credit.

Jamie ‘The Mexican’ Conlan won the 8th and final round comfortably to win the fight on points by unanimous decision ahead of what is expected to be a WBO world title eliminator in the new year.
