Pacquiao Feels He Balanced Politics And Training Ahead of Vargas Fight

Manny Pacquiao feels he has got the delicate balancing act of professional boxing training and a full-time government job as a Senator correct ahead of this Saturday.

(For fight time, preview, prediction and more on the fight check them out here).

It’s a pretty insane proposition when you think about it. To do just one of the above jobs given the commitments and demand from both professions, let alone two, is out of the realms of reality for most.

But then again Manny Pacquiao (58-6-2-38KO) isn’t exactly you’re normal person, is he?

An eight-weight world champion who’s done things in boxing that might never be done again. His first world title came all the way back in 1998 when he knocked out Chatchai Sasakul in Thailand for the WBC flyweight belt.

His career since saw him incredibly move through the weights and win fights even as high up as super-welterweight – when he dismantled Mexican Antonio Margarito on points for the WBC 154lbs strap in 2010.

Speaking at the final press conference ahead of this weekend’s showdown with WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas, Pacquiao said:

“I’ve been there (like Vargas) when I was 27 years old, 28 years old and how hungry I am. That’s what I am thinking when preparing for this fight. I have to make sure I am 100% condition, work hard. Even though I am working in the office, you are right, it is not easy to be a Senator working in the office and being a boxer. Working in the office while you are training is not easy. It’s hard. But it’s a good thing when you are happy and enjoying it – you have discipline and manage your time and that’s what I did. That’s what I accomplished for this training camp. I never missed one day of session in the Senate.”

Judging by this video on his Instagram recently, the famous Pacquiao speed doesn’t seem to have left him just yet:
