US double Olympic gold medallist Claressa Shields pro debut to come on one of the most eagerly anticipated professional boxing cards of 2016.
This of course is the light-heavyweight showdown between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward next month at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
ESPN’s Dan Rafael has reported even further positive news for fight fans looking forward to the event, in that Shields’ debut will take place on free to air television prior to the pay per view starting on HBO that night.
Shields is a decorated amateur and prior to the 2016 Olympics this year in Rio she was on our list of fighters to watch out for at the games.
She certainly lived up to expectations by adding a second Gold medal to her first one she won in the London 2012 Olympics. Despite being only 21 years old.
It is expected that Claressa will box in the super-middleweight division as a professional.
She has only ever experienced defeat once in a boxing ring to date with her total amateur boxing record standing at 77-1 (18KO).
