Golovkin Coach Convinced Mayweather Will Come Back For 50th Fight

Gennady Golovkin coach Abel Sanzhez believes boxing fans will see Floyd Mayweather back in the ring at least one more time.

In recent weeks speculation has grown around a Mayweather comeback after he was pictured in a sparring session in Vegas.

His father and trainer (Floyd senior)was watching closely on here with a serious expression on his face.

A comeback would represent an opportunity to extend his record to 50-0 and surpass the current tally he is joined on at the moment with the great heavyweight Rocky Marciano of 49-0.

Mayweather has consistently refuted claims he would make a comeback all year and has had a more active role as a promoter at Mayweather Promotions in 2016, but it now looks like that we will see him back as an active fighter in a professional boxing ring soon.

One man who believes so is renowned trainer to middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin – Abel Sanchez.

The Golovkin fight with Mayweather is one that has also been mooted in the past, although a potential matchup coming to fruition seems unlikely given the difference in size and weight between the two athletes.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Golovkin coach Abel Sanchez said:

“The way he’s talking and the way he has been talking I believe he is going to make the 50th. He has to make the 50th (fight) just for the history of it.”

There’s no denying reaching the elusive 50-0 mark would be incredibly historic and the final official stamp and a Hall of Fame career.

But the question is – who would it be against?

It would need to be somebody that genuinely excites fans to warrant such an event, which would surely also be Mayweather’s last fight in the ring at nearly 40 years of age now.
