Joseph Parker vs Andy Ruiz In Play For WBO Title Fight

Joseph Parker vs Andy Ruiz represents another interesting match up in the heavyweight division being branded about at the moment and could now even be for a heavyweight title in December.

The heavyweight division is on fire at the moment, in terms of talks of fights getting made in recent times following lineal champion Tyson Fury’s recent issues and mental health problems that have seen many other fighters and teams look to manoeuvre their way in for a shot of some of his titles, should they be stripped of him.

None have been stripped just yet, but it seems that it is inevitable that other boxers will at least be allowed to contest for them soon, as Fury sits out for a period of time as he gets better from his mental health issues and potentially could be made a champion in recess.

A similar concept happens in the UFC, the premier organisation for the sport of mixed martial arts – where if one of their champions must sit out for an extended period of time for one reason or another, an interim fight is made during the champion’s absence and upon his return he usually faces the winner of who contested the interim belt fight.

Fury awaits decision on his heavyweight titles

The publication Stuff in New Zeland are reporting that one of Fury’s belts (namely the WBO belt strap) is set to be stripped from him and allow for a heavyweight title bout in New Zealand between undefeated heavyweights Joseph Parker and Andy Ruiz Jr.

Parker is also ranked number one contender in the IBF rankings at the moment for Anthony Joshua’s belt, who is heavily linked for a fight with Wladimir Klitschko in December.

Add to this already fragmented mix of possible heavyweight title fights you also have former champion David Haye saying he will return on December 10th to the ring – the same date currently being speculated for this potential Parker vs Ruiz match up in New Zealand.
