Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury WBO belt potentially could be stripped soon by the organisation – depending on a response from an ultimatum sent by the WBO chairman.

It was reported by BBC radio last weekend that Tyson’s trainer and uncle Peter said the team would not mind being stripped of some of the titles, as long as Tyson is made a champion in recess until his return when he has recovered from his current mental health problems.

However, according to Sky Sports the Chairman of the WBO has now issued a 10 day notice to team Fury, asking them to respond by October 17th about why they should not be stripped of the World Boxing Organisation’s heavyweight title.

Fury recently tested positive for trace amounts of cocaine that has been linked with his depression as something he was using to try to cope in his poorly mental state.

His father John in recent days said that his son should be starting treatment very soon and that anything Tyson says at the moment is not to be taken as said in his right frame of mind.

Many people within the boxing community have come out in support of Fury during this difficult personal time for him, including one his most fierce rivals – WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

The American has offered these words of support and has said he would be more than happy to take a trip to the UK if needed to give advice to Fury during this time.
