Vasyl Lomachenko vs Nicholas Walters Set For November 26th
Boxing fans have been given a real treat in the form of a mouthwatering clash that sees Vasyl Lomachenko vs Nicholas Walters come together after months of speculation.
The November 26th date was something that was suspected since last week, but the opponent and venue were not known until now.
Respected journalist Dan Rafael of ESPN has broken the news that the two men will meet at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas after agreeing their contract today.
It is expected that Walters will move up a weight class to challenge for Lomachenko’s WBO super-featherweight title that he won back in June via knockout victory over Roman Martinez.
This fight had been mooted in the past but for one reason or another never got made. However now boxing fans have gotten their wish in a genuinely world class match up that will pit immense skill sets against one another.
Lomachenko is regarded already as one of the finest pound for pound fighters in the sport, despite still only having 7 professional fights to his name (6-1-4KO).
He’s also already won two world titles in two different weight classes mind you, to put into perspective his incredible rise in the sport off the back of his double Olympic gold amateur career.
Walters will come into this fight as the undefeated professional however, also a former world champion and currently boasting a record of 26-0-1 (21KO) as a prize fighter.
Having beaten former Ring Magazine ‘Fighter of the Year’ Nonito Donaire in the past, Walters is no stranger to the big occasion or going up against pound for pound rated talented and will be looking to take the wind out of talented southpaw Lomachenko’s pugilistic sails.
The month of November is shaping up to be a very exciting one indeed for the sport of boxing, with the likes of Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev and Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas to look forward to also.
All we need now is Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko in the heavyweight division for November to get made and the sweet science could be set to end the year with a bang.
