Deontay Wilder Reacts To Tyson Fury Withdrawal From Klitschko Rematch

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder reacts to the news that Tyson Fury has had to pull out of his upcoming rematch with Wladimir Klitschko on medical grounds.

News hit the boxing world last night that Tyson Fury is unable to compete in his upcoming rematch with Wladimir Klitschko in Manchester and the heavyweight division seems to have changed over night.

Already, there are talks of a potential mega showdown between IBF champion Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko before the year is out, but a certain WBC heavyweight champion has also chipped in with his two cents.

Deontay Wilder had this to say on the Fury news:

It’s very sad to see a champion unfit to preform due to no self discipline. One day soon there will be 1 name… Deontay Wilder. pic.twitter.com/vatnAkbtV3

The two have been linked with one another in recent years, particularly after one famous encounter they had in the States when Fury stormed the ring one evening after one of Wilder’s fights – calling him out and labelling the American a “bum”.

The heavyweight division is really coming to life once again with the new British, American and international fighting talent coming through, not to mind the likes of established veterans like Wladimir Klitschko, David Haye and Kubrat Pulev to name a few, all still floating around.

Younger talent like Hughie Fury, Joseph Parker and Andy Ruiz coming through will also ensure that 2017 is a very interesting year indeed in the heavyweight division.

It is not known when Fury will return to the ring at this point, but one would suspect when he has overcome his current illness that a fight between him and Wilder will be something on his agenda once again.

Wilder is currently recovering from an extensive bicep injury at the moment and is not expected to be fit to box again until the new year.
