Watch: Golovkin vs Brook ‘Behind The Ropes’

The countdown to Golovkin vs Brook is well and truly underway ahead of Saturday night’s middleweight title showdown in London.

Interestingly enough, Brook came in heavier once again than Golovkin at the most recent check weight ahead of the bout seven days out, with ‘GGG’ rumoured to be near fight weight already at around 163lbs when he touched down in the UK yesterday.

Size difference accordingly won’t be as great as some had predicted, but it will be interesting to see how Brook copes with the power of ‘GGG’ early doors, or if indeed he has enough ‘pop’ on his own shots to get the champion’s respect early on.

Trainer to Golovkin, Abel Sanchez, has previously trained a fighter to take on Kell Brook in the past that many might forget, unsuccessfully, when his American charge Carson Jones a few years back lost to Brook.

The Ingle boxing gym from Sheffield (Brook’s base camp) will be looking to continue this winning record against Sanchez but this time they will be facing a very different challenge, it must be said.

Ahead of this weekend’s big fight in the UK a very interesting ‘Behind The Ropes’ segment has been brought out, taking a look at Golovkin’s preparation in particular, following a similar short documentary that was filmed on Brook last week.

Brook will compete at the full 160lbs middleweight limit as pro for the first time this weekend

There’s no doubt in my opinion that Golovkin is taking Brook deadly serious in his training, despite many writing off the Englishman coming into this weekend’s fight that will see him move up two weight classes to middleweight for the first time.

After watching the below short documentary, you really get a feel for the togetherness and closeness of team Golovkin, who all seem solely focused on one thing – helping the middleweight champion continue in his quest of becoming a great in the sport of boxing.

There’s a long way to go in Golovkin’s career yet, mind you, and this weekend he will have to be razor sharp against a man who could enjoy a decent speed advantage over him, although you’d imagine judging by this video they are preparing for every eventuality rather meticulously:
