Amir Khan Seems Serious About A Conor McGregor MMA Fight
UK boxer Amir Khan seems serious about a Conor McGregor spectacle fight that by all accounts, he is willing to accept under mixed martial arts rules in an Octagon cage.
There’s no denying that if Khan fought the superstar fighting Irishman under straight boxing rules, that he would likely do a number on McGregor inside the distance – given the massive gulf in pugilistic skills.
The same can be said with the shoe on the other foot however, with McGregor no doubt able to make quick work of the Englishman in a UFC fight.
But this doesn’t seem to have deterred Khan in wanting the fight there, mind you.
Reports initially emerged a while back about such a spectacle but Khan seems determined to make the fight following McGregor’s win at the weekend over Nate Diaz at UFC 202:
Amazing fight @TheNotoriousMMA Showed true heart/balls and guts. Well done, have a good rest. See you soon. Call me, we need to talk 😉

It makes me wonder about Khan’s motivation left at this stage of his fight career, as he surely knows that he wouldn’t stand a chance with McGregor in a cage fight.
It appears on the surface that he could be just looking to cash out in a major way, before exiting his career in the fight game full stop.
Then again, it could be just a cynical PR move at the same time, designed to ride the crest of the unstoppable global exposure wave that is Conor McGregor at the moment.
I’d personally like to see Khan try to get his confidence back in a welterweight fight following his crushing knockout defeat to Canelo last May, then followed by an attempt to finally get the fight with long time rival Kell Brook.
That match up may have to wait a while however, with Brook scheduled to take on Gennady Golovkin next up at middleweight and then should he choose to return to welterweight to defend his IBF title, he’ll have one hell of a mandatory challenger to face in American Errol Spence Jr following his win at the weekend.
