Floyd Mayweather scouting new talent for his promotional roster at this year’s Olympics in Brazil.
Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has not boxed for some while now, with his perfect record of 49-0 (26KO) as it was since last September when he outpointed Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll see him back in the ring, most likely next year, in a bid to reach that elusive 50-0 mark that surely will tempt him back.
But for the meantime in recent months Mayweather seems to be upping his activity as a promoter, putting his name in the hat for fighters such as Mikey Garcia to sign.
As a former Olympian himself, Mayweather knows however that to be a truly top promoter he will need to bring someone through right from the start of their professional career to world champion.
He’s got his team USA colours on him this year to show support for his home country too:
It will be interesting to see who indeed Mayweather Promotions do sign after the Olympics given the significant amount of talent on display this year, coupled with the fact the American team are doing quite well too.
Mayweather recently announced he’s opening up his very own strip club in Vegas as well, so he seems to be a man with his fingers in a lot of pies lately between his boxing scouting and other business interests.
When he does come back next year, as I suspect he will, it will have to be a big name to warrant the 50-0 status.
It’s been a while now since we’ve seen the defensive maestro in the ring but for those who didn’t catch his last outing against Berto in 2015, here’s how he was feeling after it at the time and more:
