Kovalev Wants Vladimir Putin To Walk Him Out For Ward Fight

Sergey Kovalev wants Vladimir Putin to walk out to the ring with him when he faces American boxing maestro Andre Ward later this year.

Yesterday saw a press conference attended by Sergey Kovalev (but not Andre Ward) to formally announce their upcoming fight – which was a tad strange given Ward’s absence.

Some doubt has now emerged on the fight as pertaining to was it actually signed or just agreed to verbally, but by all accounts it still looks to be going ahead on November 19th as previously reported.

Kovalev’s promoter Kathy Duva yesterday said that dealing with Ward’s promoters RocNation was a “living hell”.

Sergey himself has been in good form this week though it seems, knowing that the biggest fight of his career is surely now not long away.

It’s a fight that has been building for some time now and speaking this week on who he’d like to walk him to the ring, Kovalev told TMZ Sports that Russian president Vladimir Putin would be his choice:
