Tony Bellew v BJ Flores Set For Liverpool Date

A Tony Bellew v BJ Flores fight for the WBC crusierweight title is set to be officially announced next week for the Echo Arena on October 15th.

It’s a fight that’s been in the making for a while this summer, with both fighters exchanging some heated verbals on Twitter in recent times.

It will represent another opportunity for Bellew to fight in front of his passionate and loyal hometown fans in Liverpool, having won the title in front or a roaring crowd at Goodison Park back in May.

Bellew overcame a knockdown on the night against teak tough Ilunga Makabu to come storming back and close the show inside the distance.

With the fight being a voluntary defence for Bellew, some have pointed to the credibility of his opponent in this one however.

Tom Craze of Bad Left Hook pointed out that Flores was ranked considerably down the rankings in the WBC ratings as of July:

Hey @WBCBoxing and @wbcmoro, could you confirm the reasons why BJ Flores, your #26-ranked cruiserweight for July, is fighting for the title?

Flores will be looking at this fight as probably his last shot at a world title and motivation should not be too much of an issue accordingly, on top of the taunts from Bellew online recently labelling him a “party boy”.
