Jim Watt the boxing commentator has decided to call time on his long career in boxing media and broadcasting.
For those who may not be familiar with Watt, he had become a long standing piece of the furniture at Sky Sports boxing over the last two decades or so, that saw an era of boxing on Sky in the UK and Ireland brought to life with great fighters.
But outside of his broadcasting career what he was really known for before that was being one of Scotland’s greatest ever boxers.
He became world champion in in 1979 after Roberto Duran vacated the WBC world lightweight title and successfully defended the title four times before losing it in 1979, but only to the great Alexis Arguello via a unanimous decision.
It was to prove to be Watt’s final fight inside a professional ring and he retired having won the British, European and World Title and amassed a professional record of 38-8-27KO.
He went on to build up a long career in broadcasting on the sport of boxing for Sky Sports and following his retirement today tributes have come flooding in for him:
