WBO European, British and Commonwealth welterweight champion Bradley Skeete marched on tonight with an impressive win.
Skeete (24-1-11KO) got behind the jab early on, utilising his significant reach and distance from a solid stance, although Frenchman Alexandre Lepelley did give him food for thought early on with some decent left hooks – catching the champion’s attention.
As the early rounds progressed Skeete starting boxing well, remaining patient and throwing some clean over-hand rights, which proved to be a good weapon for the 6’1 Londoner early on.
Skeete who was enjoying a massive height advantage on the night, of what seemed like almost half a foot, was finding it awkward in patches to get his shots off, having to punch down at so significantly of an angle.
As the bout moved into the middle rounds Skeete’s boxing ability, defence and shot selection really came into play, landing some eye catching uppercuts and body punches.
The 7th round brought about an excellent stoppage for Skeete after out boxing his French counterpart for the duration of the bout, landed a devastating body punch to end the contest.
After tonight’s win and his previous victory over Sam Eggington, Skeete now has some significant momentum behind his march towards a world title shot and expect a move up the WBO rankings after another this win tonight.
