Freddie Roach Explains How Mike Tyson Once Knocked Him Out

Tyson was always a big puncher in the ring, but it appears even his coaches were not exempt from his dynamite fists during training.

Hall of Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach worked with Mike Tyson for a period during his career and Tyson has since always spoke of his respect for the renowned coach.

However speaking to FightHub, Roach revealed that one day while he was training Tyson, that a punch from the heavyweight knockout artist actually followed through directly onto him when holding the mitts, and had him out on his feet:

“He hit me in the chin one day, he hit me real hard. It wasn’t the best day of my life. I didn’t go down but I was definitely knocked out. Oh man, he hit me so hard.”

He added:

“The thing with Mike is, it was explosive and fast. Then one day he hit me and I said Mike we don’t need to do that anymore. He said I’m sorry. He has it on tape somewhere but he won’t give it to me (laughs).”

Better you than us, Freddie!

Tyson was always a man known for his ferocity in not just the ring, but also his preparations in training camps, where sparring partners would often be sent home early.

‘Iron’ Mike turned 50 years old this week and the folks at Boxing Legends TV have brought out at excellent greatest hits compilation of the once ‘baddest man’ on the planet’s boxing career:
