Anthony Joshua Speaks On What He Wants His Legacy To Be

The Londoner puts his title on the line next week at the O2 Arena against Dominic Breazeale.

There is a lot of hype behind Joshua at this point but to his credit, he has managed to win a version of the heavyweight title in a very short time frame in his pro career – which is impressive.

He speaks well, is marketable, comes across as a good guy and most importantly, is exciting in the ring as a heavyweight, but it is also important to realise that he’s very early into his journey in boxing so far, despite being the current IBF world heavyweight champion.

The thing I like most about him is that he appears to be very aware of this through his humility exhibited thus far and speaking to Seconds Out this week, he continued in this vein when asked what he wants his legacy in boxing to be:

“Just for them to respect me, the decisions I’ve made and why I’ve made them throughout my career. So when I’m not here people understand sometimes you have to make decisions for self, because you’re in a public job, so the decisions you make sometimes have an impact on a lot of people, on others. I just want them to respect me as a person and understand I make the decisions I do and it’s for the better of myself and sometimes others as well.”

Recently Joshua appeared on Sky Sports with ‘The Rock’ and Kevin Hart in a rather amusing segment ahead of his upcoming fight with Dominic Breazeale:
